Bailiwicks on Mill in Saint Johnsbury

Called ahead 3 weeks in advance for my birthday, was told that reservation was not needed. We finally get dressed-up and head out. When we get there, we're greeted with a smug face after being told we needed a reservation and was offered an outdoor seat after. It's 55 degrees and it rained earlier this evening. Needless to say our first and last experience with this restaurant chain. I will be telling my friends and family about this and urging them never to attempt at this place.

Had a family get together here. Great food & drinks. Also friendly staff & very knowledgeable when it came to new drinks from the bar. The calamari was to die for.

Food was great.I had the salmon. It was perfectly cooked and the risotto was unusually good. Environment was a little noisy for my taste, the service a little slow, and more expensive than expected, but I would still recommend it.

Bailiwicks is usually a 5-star place and the service and the food we're great this evening but both my wife and I had what we would definitely call the absolute worst Margarita we have ever tasted it was bitter and terrible other than that the food in the service was great

Always love eating at Bailiwicks, but on this visit the bun on my burger was stale. Bummer.

Great food - excellent service - the restaurant itself is tight for a group of 5 or 6 - but good environment and reasonably priced.

Randomly stopped for the dinner on the way to Canada. It was crowded, always good sign. I ordered clam chowder, Ahi Tuna steak with Wasabi and mustard seeds crust, couscous, pickled seaweed and ginger. Wow... It blew my mind. What a surprise, what a tasty meal!

The atmosphere was good and the bartender was cute and friendly. Tje food was good and came in a timely fashion. Parking was easy and this seemed to be the go to spot for recommendations in the town. Menu is a little pricey for the town.

My sister had her rehearsal dinner here a few years ago and it was amazing. Just came back for brunch, the fried goat cheese, creme bruleé french toast and crab cake benny were delicious!

Stopped here on way up to Jay Peak from MA. Great food! Loved the Bloody Mary and nachos. The chips are homemade😊 My son had the chicken tenders and they were the best he’s ever had. All homemade with Panko crust. Staff was super friendly too

The landlord probably wants to turn the place over with optimistic restaurateurs paying high rents for inadequate air-conditioning. The friendly staff tries to make up for it and the food is good.

Pay for the atmosphere. Decent food and drinks just a bit overpriced.

Four people, and we waited 45 minutes for two grilled cheese sandwiches, a salad, and a burger. And then it all arrived cold. The burger had insufficient little inner onion circles on it, and the slice of tomato was not even close to ripe. The salad dressing ordered was bleu cheese, but a vinaigrette was brought. A table which arrived and ordered after us was served first. The fact that this occurred on Father's Day is irrelevant in that we were the only occupied table in the dining room when we arrived. Unfortunately, I had an earlier similar experience at the Bailiwicks in Littleton. Will neither return nor recommend.

Simply put, if you want fine dining in St. J this is your spot. Also an exceptional pub menu and the meanest cocktails around.

Great service...

We used to love this place but it has gone downhill. We thought we would give it a try after several months of bad reviews. Unfortunately it wasn’t worth it. The bartender didn’t have any suggestions for drinks for a particular local liquor. The waitress couldn’t answer any of our questions about the food or drinks. My husband and I ordered fried fish and chips. The French fries were undercooked and the amount of seafood that came with it was small. It will be long time before we try going back there again.

Sad to report, the experience was awful. Dinner reservations for 9 people at 5:30. Our order was placed at 5:50 and was not served until 7:00 and one of the dishes was wrong. Four tables arrived after us (including a table of 6) and each was served before us, and most had finished their meals before ours was even served A fail for Mother's Day. For $300+, this should have been a great experience and meal. Nope.

I met a dear friend for a reunion dinner here and to say the least the food was disappointing. We both thought the food was below average diner food at a cost near double area diners. It was a lot of money for what we were served.

This is a nice restaurant with a great look and a good sized bar. The burgers are excellent and the service was friendly and prompt. I'd like to visit in the warmer weather to check out the outdoor seating.

I have been going to Bailiwicks about once a month for 2 years. The food is constantly very good and the service is awesome! The prices are worth the quality of food and service. Stephen and the staff are very personable and do a great job!

Ordered a salad and the tuna. They brought the wrong salad. But the waiter fixed that problem quickly. Then the tuna was supposed to be encrusted with sesame seeds. Unfortunately they burned all the sesame to black. It tasted like they smoked the tuna. It was bad. I felt too bad to return it. Just scraped off all the burn. The service was good. The food was awful. $28 for charred sesame seed tuna, ugh.

Pretty pricey, but you get what you pay for. $30 got me chips and hummus, salad and steak. Can't complain! Service was great as well. Cool atmosphere. My mom is gluten free and the waitress did a great job accommodating her.

Fabulous service, great variety of drinks, food and fabulous quality and presentation. This is a place for people looking for quality, service, presentation and FABULOUS choices, from drinks right thru to dessert. I am so happy we have found this place will be going back often!! Loved it, you get what you pay for, and I sure don't mind paying for quality experience, relaxing and fun. THANK YOU!!

Very good food

Been here twice and the food was good both times. Though the last time I probably wasn't paying as much attention to the food as much as I should have been. That was down to a broken tie rod on my rental car, which happened right outside the restaurant...What we hadn't realized at the time was that the taxi service is quite curtailed in St Johnsbury at night, so we were kind of stuck until our very nice waitress Ann, I believe, offered us a ride to our hotel.Actually, the staff at the restaurant were all quite helpful when they found out about our predicament so I'd just like to thank everyone there.

Great Spot off the beaten path, one would not think due to the location of this spot. but we ran in to the Chamber of Commerce Tara whom recommended us to this spot. we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Stephen whom was great. Although the peanuts are addicting, they are great munchie food while waiting for dinner. thanks again

Always great food and a great atmosphere we love having lunch dates here when we have time and sometimes rare dinner dates!

Trendy & overpriced, service and food average

Great food. Got fried goat cheese and a burger very good. Waitress was excellent too her name was Emma if I am ever up that way again will stop in.

Service is very slow and the one in Littleton is so much better. Very little parking as well.

Good food and service in a rough neighborhood

In warmer months the back deck is very pleasant for enjoying brunch or a few tasty drinks; the bloody is definitely acceptable! The food is good but can be unpredictable. I've had some really great meals and some just "okay". Prices are average and the staff experience has been mostly positive.

LittletonAfter my wedding we went with only 6 people got seated at a island not long after they seated a party off 4 at our table with us, we waited for over 2 hours for our food, the people next to us got there food within 45 minutes. Very poor service for the prices they charge. After hearing such good things was very disappointed. We let them know we had been waiting for 2 hours and just wanted the bill to leave we waited another 5 minutes for bill, no show. We had to drop cash on the table to cover the bill and leave

Service was good, and the waitress had a sense of humor. Ordered off the bar menu and completely enjoyed dinner. Comfortable atmosphere, and a good place for a pokestop.
